Authenticity Consulting, LLC, co-founder, Carter McNamara,
MBA, PhD, is an internationally known expert in nonprofit capacity
building. He has consulted to 100s of nonprofits, taught numerous
courses about nonprofit capacity building, written many major
publications about nonprofit capacity building, and trained 100s
of nonprofit consultants.
- Carter consults primarily in the areas of nonprofit organization
development, Boards, strategic planning, and leadership and management
development
- He teaches the seminar "Nonprofit Organization Development
and Change" for the Center for Nonprofit Management at the
University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- He also teaches the seminar "OD 101" for the Minnesota
Organization Development Network (MNODN).
- He developed MNODN's OD
Library, one of the world's largest online library's about
organization development and change.
- He sits on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Organization
Development Network.
- His PhD included strong focus on nonprofit organization and
management development and in peer learning programs.
- He is founder and developer of the Free
Management Library (SM), one of the
world's largest collections of well-organized, free, on-line
resources for organizations.
- He is founder and developer of the on-line, Free,

- He is founder and developer of Authenticity
Circles(SM), the national action learning-based,
peer learning development program.
- He is nationally recognized expert in Founder's

- Carter has helped numerous businesses across the nation to
customize and implement Action Learning-based, peer learning
programs. Carter's doctoral work included use of Action Learning-based
approaches to leadership and management development. He has written
and spoken nationally about Action Learning-based programs.
He has 20 years of real-world management experience in a variety
of organizations, including startup, public-private, nonprofit
and corporate.
Carter holds a BA in Social and Behavioral Sciences, BS in
Computer Science, MBA from the University of St. Thomas, and
a PhD in Human and Organization Development from The Union Institute
in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Teri McNamara, Partner
Teri
has strong real-world expertise in systematic approaches to marketing
and product/program design. Along with Carter McNamara, she co-consultants
and co-leads numerous projects, including about:

Teri is also director of Authenticity's publications services.
Andy Horsnell, Associate
Andy has a unique combination of expertise
and skills in the field of nonprofit program development and
entrepreneurship. His real-world expertise helps to make Authenticity
Consulting's nonprofit program development and entrepreneurship
services highly practical and realistic.
- For nine years, he worked as a consultant, trainer and assistant
director of the (nonprofit) Acadia
Centre for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
- Over the last fifteen years, he has assisted several hundred
aspiring entrepreneurs and dozens of nonprofit organizations
to establish and grow their organizations.
- He designed the complete business development training curriculum
for trainers and learners, offered by Neighborhood Development
Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- He is a former senior associate with the National
Center for Social Entrepreneurs and continues to provide
mission-driven business development services to the clients of
the Management Assistance Program
for Nonprofits.
- He designed the training program to train nonprofit service
providers how to develop and provide social entrepreneurship
services (click here to view
a description of the program).
- He has designed, delivered, managed and evaluated numerous
nonprofit programs.
- He moderates the national, on-line discussion forum nonprofit_entrepreneurship.
- He has conducted extensive program evaluations, including
on outcomes, so he understands requirements that programs prove
results to funders, board, staff and clients
- He has developed a variety of practical business development
tools and resources, including Social
Entrepreneurship Toolbox, Exploring the Climate for Earned Income
Development, Taking Stock of Your Earned Income Assets, and

Rolfe Larson, MBA, Associate
The primary focus of Rolfe's work is
earned income ventures and social enterprises. His primary areas
of service include:
- Strategic planning
- Feasibility
- Marketing
- Business plans
Examples of the types of industries in which Rolfe has worked
include: healthcare, social service, environment, arts,
gift shops, coffee shops, music marketing, and nonprofit theaters.
Rolfe is an Adjunct Professor at the Center for Nonprofit
Management, College of Business, University of St. Thomas, in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the Center, he:
- Designs curriculum and teaches workshops on social entrepreneurship,
including market analysis, business planning and Internet strategies
- Teaches an MBA course on marketing for nonprofits & service
organizations
Rolfe is author of the publication, Venture Forth! The
Essential Guide to Starting a Moneymaking Venture in Your Nonprofit
Organization, published by the Fieldstone Alliance. The book
is:
- Practical, step-by-step venture development guide for nonprofits
- Endorsed by social enterprise leaders including: Peter Brinckerhoff,
Greg Dees, Jed Emerson and Paul Newman of Newman's Own.

Ron Bulmer, Associate
Ron Bulmer, BSc, BEd, offers leadership
expertise built upon his success as an entrepreneur, educator
and community development advocate. Ron helps businesses and
non-profit organizations translate opportunities into growth,
and coaches leaders to focus on reflection, learning and action
to gain insights. Combining collaboration with execution results
in maximum benefit for the organization.
Ron:
- Facilitates peer coaching groups
- Is completing requirements for certification program in Authenticity
Consulting's Authenticity Circles facilitation and program design
- Experience as a non-profit executive, leading a provincial
woodlot-owner association
- Leads non-profit Boards in long-term planning based on appreciating
strengths within the community and modeling organizational systems
so that leverage points are identified for maximum return on
investment
- Has his permanent teaching license in Nova Scotia
- Demonstrates personal leadership by running for election
to represent his local school Board district as trustee
- Manages and develops rental properties
- Owned, grew, managed and sold a cleaning franchise with 15
employees
- Created, grew and sold a family-operated holiday greeting
